ON GOLF

Hello On Golf family,

You’re all receiving this newsletter from a new email service provider — beehiiv, so if this email looks a little different, viola! Now you know why.

This is important to me, though maybe not to you, but hear me out. Here’s why I’ve done such a dramatic thing:

What I hope to eventually build is a content ecosystem that includes youtube, newsletter, and socials to speak with candor about the state of golf. Mmm, yes… candor.

Ultimately I’ve found that beehiiv is THE PLACE that will lead to the flourishing and connectedness of all those pieces.

Not that it was 100% necessary, but I figured with the change, I wouldn’t mind breaking the fourth wall a bit to state my intentions:

I will continue covering brands, to share with you stories of others’ success, to share stories from the course itself, to write creatively from time to time AND IN ALL OF THAT, remain unmistakably me.

I want you to feel as though you’re receiving a personal email from me, as that’s how I feel writing to you all.

Onward!

My Personal Golf Update

I’ve recently been asked to write a few articles each month for MyGolfSpy, a leading golf media outlet. While known primarily for their gear/equipment reviews, they’ve slowly been building out a presence in more traditional golf news that covers tour press as well as alternative golf content (YouTube golf, TGL, golf talk, trends, etc.).

THAT’S what I get to contribute to. You can check out my take on simulator golf if you want.

My picture is a little blurry, but other than that, feeling pretty offish.

look mom, it’s me (I know my brothers are doctors, but I promise this is also cool).

It feels like the start of something pretty special, and feel like I’m getting closer and closer to being in some rooms (even if they’re zoom rooms) with some exciting characters in the golf space.

I look forward to sharing those conversations with you and diving into what’s keeping the golf world (in all of its many facets) ticking.

THE BUSINESS

On Golf is a business. It is not registered, though my boss (in my real job) told me I better get on that. By the way, the best perk in my career right now is having bosses who trust me to get my work done and want to see me succeed in my creative projects (this) outside of work. UNDERRATED PERK, POTENTIALLY PRICELESS.

But yes, On Golf is meant to be both a media outlet and a writing services shop for golf brands.

Making money on the media side will take time. Making money by writing for brands can happen right now, though I don’t have much time to do it. I enjoy doing both and figuring out ways to up my revenue in both areas. Win win for me.

2026 is going to be really fun for On Golf. You may or may not see it in the numbers, but it’s going to be the year that I try some things I’ve never tried before.

Trust that I will keep you updated and hopefully keep you entertained for years to come.

Until next time,

Luke Mangan
